Re-Certification will take place on the 1st Thursday of every month.

Student is Responsible for bringing:

  • Current and Valid “G” License
  • Duty Firearm, magazines, and holster
  • Proper Ammunition, 48 rounds for each qualifying attempt, maximum 3 attempts.
  • IT IS RECOMMENDED TO COME DRESSED IN DUTY GEAR (NOT REQUIRED)

*Additional firearm fee: $30.00, (e.g., shotgun, secondary pistol)


In accordance with Florida Statutes, this is an Armed Re-Certification Course for the below license holders:

Class “D”

Security Officer

Class “M”, “MA”, “MB”

Security & Private Investigative

Agency Managers

Class “C”, “CC”

Private Investigator/Interns


The re-certification course includes a minimum of 4 hours which includes 3 hours of classroom, followed by 1 hour for range certification.  A maximum of 12 students will be allowed to enroll for the course.  Only six students will fire on the range at one time, in accordance with the Firearms Instructor Training Manual (FITM).  The course is presented in English.

1.  Legal Aspects:  A review of legal aspects of the use of firearms, when to use a gun, and, civil and criminal liability.  It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to the participant to review and study the following Florida Statutes, PRIOR to your course date:

2.  Written Exam:   Participant must achieve a minimum score of 70%.  The exam is comprised of 50 questions (True/False & Multiple Choice).  This is not a “group effort” exam.  Professional integrity is expected.
3.  Practical Exercise:  Review of Operational Firearms Safety, and Firearms Mechanical Training.
4.  Range Qualification:  Review of Firearms Qualification, and Firearms Qualification.  It is recommended participants review the 2-target, 7-Stage course of fire, and the time permitted for each string of fire.  Shots fired past the time allotted will have no point value.  The participant must achieve a minimum acceptable score of 168 points out of a possible 240.  Your firearm must be safe and in good working order.
Arrival on your training day:  ALL weapons will be encased, and remain in your vehicle until advised otherwise by the instructor.  There is no ammunition allowed in the classroom.  Wear appropriate outdoor range clothing.  Rain will not cancel this course.  After all, a professional is prepared to exercise their duties in various physical environments.
